Hunting Dog Program

The hunting dog program takes 2 - 3 months to learn depending on the aptitude of the dog. It is designed for your dog to have a solid foundation in hunting skills. He will be
ready to start hunting as soon as you take him home. All you will need to do is know his commands and how to shoot a bird. There will only be a short transition period of about twenty birds in a hunting situation for him to become confident and comfortable.

Cost is $720.00 per month plus birds and includes board, feed,care and training.

Here is an outline of our basic 2-3 month gun dog program, designed to get your dog ready to hunt:

Basic Obedience: Heel; sit; here; finish; kennel into crate, into truck, into kennel.
Hold.
Fetch bumper.
Return with bumper.
Reinforce basic commands with remote control.
Fetch birds: pigeons, ducks, pheasants.
Simple retrieves on land.
Simple retrieves in water.
Simple retrieves across water.
Working in and out of a duck blind.
Working with a gun shot.
Retrieving fresh shot birds.
Finding lost birds.
Flushing live birds.
Working over decoys.
Working with the aid of a gunner/thrower.
Extending distance of retrieves.
Double retrieves.
Advanced gundog training available upon request,which will include handling basics for
blind retrieves, more distance of retrieves, and multiple retrieves. Of course, we will
customize the course to your specific needs.
